So it does work, but not when completing argument for command

Beside bumping this up, I would like to notice, it's not that simple as
'it does not work'. Considering root home directory completion (we all
have root user, right?):
$ ~rotab # does work just fine - it gets completed into ~root
$ ls
3 matches
