Package: util-linux
Version: 2.17.2-3
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/partx

Hi,

r...@frosties:~# partx --type gpt -l /dev/nbd0
HDIO_GETGEO: Inappropriate ioctl for device

partx seems to call HDIO_GETGEO solely to verify that the given device
is a whole disk and not just a partition with a complicated override
to allow partx to be used on partitions as well.

It would be nice it partx could work on network block devices too.

MfG
        Goswin

PS: If you free nbd should support HDIO_GETGEO then please reassign
this bug.
