this still happens with
ffmpeg2theora 0.24-2+b1
mplayer 2:1.0~rc3++final.dfsg1-1
but does not happen with
gst-launch playbin2 uri=file://$(pwd)/trailer_iphone.ogv
or
vlc trailer_iphone.ogv
