multibyte characters are deleted byte by byte when I'm editing an incremental search. In other words: -> enter some command containing a multibyte character. postgres=# dfsä; -> enter incremental search Ctrl+R -> type the multibyte character (reverse-i-search)`ä': dfsä; -> type backspace (reverse-i-search)`�': dfsä; (tested from konsole and xterm with bash and psql, so it seems to be a bug in a lower level library. I'm not 100% certain it's in readline, so feel free to reassign, of course.) cheers -- vbi
