Package: bsdmainutils Version: 8.0.13 Severity: minor hexdump(1) says about the format string "It is interpreted as a fprintf-style format string".
However, apparently the %% pseudo-conversion to print a literal % character doesn't seem to work. e.g, I'd expect echo hello | hexdump -v -e '/1 "%%%02X "' ; echo to print "%68%65%6C%6C%6F%0A", but it doesn't. Instead I get "hexdump: %%: bad conversion character" '%' isn't listed with the unsupported conversion characters. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.35-trunk-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=POSIX, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages bsdmainutils depends on: ii bsdutils 1:2.17.2-3.3 Basic utilities from 4.4BSD-Lite ii debianutils 3.4.1 Miscellaneous utilities specific t ii libc6 2.11.2-6 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libncurses5 5.7+20100313-4 shared libraries for terminal hand bsdmainutils recommends no packages.
