I have similar problem in my two machines - one laptop and one desktop. In fact after the problem appears, screen gets black and I'm not able to ssh into these machines to get any logs. I have reported more details to lkml: http://lkml.org/lkml/2010/10/26/466 http://lkml.org/lkml/2010/10/27/60
As a workaround I had to switch to "vesa" driver, however with this driver the
