Hello.
I'd like to subscribe to the list too.
As a side note: wouldn't 'debian-users-slovenian' be a less
unequivocable, and thus a more appropriate name for the list? The lists
are named after languages, not after nations. Now, although both
"Slovene" and "Slovenian" may be used for the language name, I
personally see "Slovenian" as more appropriate, for several reasons:
1. the use of 'Slovenian' instead of 'Slovene' naturally and
intuitively follows the -- not identical at all, but similar
nonetheless -- pattern used in, say, 'Croat' vs. 'Croatian' where the
short form can only be used to denote the nation, not the language; the
same can be said of 'Serb/Serbian', 'Turk/Turkish', and some other
language/nation pairs;
2. the use of 'Slovenian' is less context-dependent; while 'Slovene'
can mean three distinct things (nation/language/adjective), 'Slovenian'
has only two distinct meanings (language/adjective), which makes it
more precise and straightforward to use;
3. for what it's worth, the expression 'Slovene' is more exposed to
potential associations (and puns) with 'sloven', a single 'e' being the
only difference between the two;
4. as a bonus, 'Slovenian' sort-of rhymes with 'Debian' ;)
