Hi,
thank you for reporting this issue, this bothered me too.. which is why
since mdadm 4.1-3 you can disable the different checks
alltogether/individually via debconf.
If you do that, then you don't get any runs of checkarray and therefore
no messages from cron.

the MD subsystem is not loaded

As mentioned by the original reporter, /usr/share/mdadm/checkarray
reports an error and exits with exitcode 2 if the MD subsystem is not
loaded, even though this is not an error by it
