It could be so that the MTU discovery fails for some reason. This is
not necessarily a fault in pptp, but it could be a router/firewall
problem. Why it works in Windows is that they may have a lower
default MTU compared to the linux implementation. The same may apply
to ssh.

send and the description below.
It is quite clear that the following happens:
You have packet loss (or reordering of packets) in the direction
from the server to the client. You can see that from the logs.

I am confirming the problem reported by Eirik Johnsen. But in my case the
