After migration from squeeze,emacs22 to wheezy,emacs23
emacs consistently shows the following behaviour:

As soon as I start to modify a buffer, I am interrupted by
a question showing up in the bottom line:

<file> locked by <user>@<hostname> (pid <this-emacs-process>): (s, q, p, ?)?

After answering 's' I am allowed to edit. When I say ^X^S to save
the buffer, the very same message pops up again.

Obviously, this makes working a pain.

It seems I am the first to report this bug - so I am afraid
I messed something up in my system. I have not the least clue what.
