Hi, I tried to apply some patches to my package. When I did dpkg-buildpackage, I get: dpkg-source: error: can't build with source format '3.0 (quilt)': no orig.tar file found dpkg-buildpackage: error: dpkg-source -b speechd-up gave error exit status 255 Investigating, I realised that the problem was the name of my .orig.tar.gz didn't match with this in changelog. But I spent 3 hours. I think if dpkg-dev could say: dpkg-source: error: can't build with source format '3.0 (quilt)': file filenameitsearches.orig.tar file found dpkg-buildpackage: error: dpkg-source -b speechd-up gave error exit status 255 it would be great and easier to understand where is the problem. Could you change the behavior to allow this? To make dpkg say what it's looking for, and helping seeing where we do a mistake?
