Package: wicd Version: 1.7.1-1 Severity: normal Hi!
wicd is slow. No matter if wired or wireless, it takes ages to establish a connection, in total something like 32-35 seconds. Most of the time is spent on "disconnecting active connections", a whole 22s or so, followed by some shorter stages and finally around 8s for DHCP. Especially for wired connections, bypassing wicd and manually running dhclient is in the order of 1-2s for the entire process. Same holds true for running wpa_supplicant on the command line and manually spawning dhclient. It takes less than a second to associate with the AP.
