I removed every trace of grub 1.99-23 from my system & then installed 2.07
That works very well---I was up until now updating from 1.99 to 2.07 & as
I look into 05_debian_theme in /etc/grub.d, I see that the location of
grub-mkconfig_lib has changed from /usr/lib/grub/grub
Very good--I'll re-run the grub install & "really" verify that 2.0x
installs, then report back.

My install is about a 1 1/2 year old--1.99 version installs/re-installs
fine, the problems only come when I try to upgrade to the new 2.0x version.
What should I look for to track this further?
