I have tried xul-ext-sieve 0.1.14-1 with icedove 17.0-1, which is an even
bigger version difference, and found it working. Having the plugin broken
in some versions of Thunderbird in between seems very strange.

I just tried to reproduce the bug on a wheezy system of the same
configuration as Bastian and found the Sieve extension working just fine.
