Package: update-manager-gnome Version: 0.200.5-1 Severity: normal Dear maintainer,
I use linux-image-3.2.0-0.bpo because my XPS L502X hangs when booting into 2.6. I am not exactly sure why but it seems to have something to do with acpi. I have two machines running Debian 6.0.7 squeeze at home one is a desktop. Both of my machines periodically and inconsistently report errors when trying to run "sudo apt-get update". The errors consist of E: 404 not found or E: Invalid signature. I have run sudo apt-key update and apt informs me that the keys have been processed and unchanged 7/7 which I have confirmed multiple times. The 404 not found message only occurs for the back-port repositories but the kernel that I am using is back-ported! The 404 not found will also report different IP addresses which it is unable to find. For example: Err http://ftp.us.debian.org squeeze-backports-sloppy/main amd64 Packages 404 Not Found [IP: 64.50.236.52 80] Err http://ftp.us.debian.org squeeze-backports-sloppy/contrib amd64 Packages 404 Not Found [IP: 64.50.236.52 80] Err http://ftp.us.debian.org squeeze-backports-sloppy/non-free amd64 Packages 404 Not Found [IP: 64.50.236.52 80] W: Failed to fetch http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian-backports/dists/squeeze- backports-sloppy/main/binary-amd64/Packages.gz 404 Not Found [IP: 64.50.236.52 80] W: Failed to fetch http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian-backports/dists/squeeze- backports-sloppy/contrib/binary-amd64/Packages.gz 404 Not Found [IP: 64.50.236.52 80] W: Failed to fetch http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian-backports/dists/squeeze- backports-sloppy/non-free/binary-amd64/Packages.gz 404 Not Found [IP: 64.50.236.52 80] E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead. Dear maintainer, Sometimes this IP address begins with 128 instead of 64. Is this normal? This morning after running sudo apt-get update I received the above error messages and some others. I ran sudo apt-key update and then apt-get update again and it seemed to work fine. However, then I ran sudo apt-get upgrade and I was informed that all my packages are up-to-date. About 5 minutes later I was notified that there are 4 updates available for the system. Maybe they were just released this morning. If I can provide and additional information please let me know. I have tried to attach my syslog but I cannot.
