currently the svg icon is located at /usr/share/openstreetmap-client/media/ and is also referenced by the desktop file. A better place for scalable icons is /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps so that the dpkg triggers for the hicolor icon theme are automatically executed. This would also refresh the icon cache and display the icon on the user's desktop after the first installation. This is currently not the case.
