Thanks for your patch. Today I had some time to test it and is does fix all
the OTR problems I had before. So I can confirm that the patch fixes this bug.

malformed data message from myaccountname@myserver in an endless loop on the
pidgin client.
I have just added limited support of instance tags into Psi+ OTR plugin:

OTRv3
In Psi+ this bug was not fixed directly, but workaround was added [1].
