I believe this is https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1208091 which
Laurent Vivier traced down to a race condition in net.c He also
provided a patch in above-mentioned URL. In any case, I reported
#854705 to see if Debian wants to ship the pat

Here they are. I attach also /etc/sane.d/dll.d/libsane-extras (which
is the only file in /etc/sane.d

Hello,
yes, the same bug still exists. But now, I can't no more stop
avahi-daemon, because it's restarting automatically.
$ dpkg -l sane-utils ava
tags 763420 + moreinfo

I can't currently reproduce your problem. avahi-daemon is running on
my machine all the time and my scanner still works (see below). I also
successfully tried to scan something.
Maybe there is something wrong with your Avahi configuration?
