Hello,

I wanted to inquire into the status of this bug and patch filed a while
back. There is a similar one opened here,
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/util-linux/+bug/1722313.

To address just a few of the issues discussed in the thread for this bug...

- Only hwclock would be affected by this change.
I have enabled --with-audit in Ubuntu Xenial's util-linux package and
tested the hwclock on amd64 and ppc64el systems. I issued, "sudo hwclock
--set --date 11:36" And saw the following entry in my
/var/log/audit/audit.log file,

type=USYS_CONFIG msg=audit(1507653892.513:8900): pid=9909 uid=0
auid=1000 ses=433 msg='changing system time exe="/sbin/hwclock"
hostname=? addr=? terminal=pts/0 res=success'

The audit record was generated and all appears ok.

- util-linux package is Priority: required and the libaudit1 package is
Priority: optional.

Possibly this is no longer a problem in reference to a change in Version
4.0.1 listed here,
https://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-manuals/upgrading-checklist.txt ?

I hope to hear from you. Thanks!

regards,
Joy
