Exactly the same issue here. It's said that v0.8 needs akonadi-4.13
(https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=332643) but I didn't dare to try
the experimental repository for such a package.

Since latest upgrade, my contact list does not show anyboby. krunner
(Alt-F2) still has the completion of my contacts and their status, so
it is not a backend problem, rather a display problem.
