Hi Jose! ABI compat. has been double checked by the upstream author and by me. I also managed to get him signing releases. All bugfixes have been backported from 1.4.x branch and will also be backported in the future, which makes simpler for us to package it.
So everything is very fine with version 0.8.2 (https://github.com/open-source-parsers/jsoncpp/releases/tag/0.8.2) Contact with upstream can be followed here: https://github.com/open-source-parsers/jsoncpp/issues/157 https://github.com/open-source-parsers/jsoncpp/issues/150 I would suggest using collab-maint over bitbucket, as it is more open and other DD's can also work on that without given extra permissions or having to signup on bitbucket. You just need to signup up there for a *-guest account and Cleto Martin (or another DD you are working with) has to request your account activation. I will start packaging 0.8.2 at collab-maint and post details about it here. Let me know when you have access to collab-maint. Could you send me a .tar.gz copy of the git repo you are currently using via mail? I hope we can get this fixed soon, as the old package contains lots of bugs and security issues.
