I have systemd 215-8 (which is now in Testing) and have the same problem
but with gdm3 and lightdm. Here, both lightdm (1.10.3-3) and gdm3
(3.14.1-3) are installed but the former is set to be the default display
manager. I get lines like these:
gdm.service: control process exited, code=exited

I am also affected by this problem. During boot quite a large amount of
error messages are generated about gdm3 failing to start.
