IMHO it's a very good idea to add instructions to those who came from a
non-Debian OS

Can you explain a bit what would be wrong with these instructions?
* I get that it's a bit out of scope for a Debian technical manual.
* On the other hand, it would help many people installing Debian. (IRC
channels on oftc and freenode get hammered with this question)
