The original update-smart-drivedb man page was provided for the Debian package (Bug #708433) . This man page was added 2014-06-26 to upstream smartmontools (r3929). An slightly updated version was included in smartmontools upstream release 6.3 (r3976).
The Debian package build from smartmontools r4002 still provides the original version. No problem for this package, but future versions of the upstream man page might contain significant changes.
