The upstream author suggested a workaround on IRC. By replacing inkscape
with a wrapper looking like this:
% cat bin/inkscape
#!/bin/sh
# Workaround for https://bugs.debian.org/794066 >
exec /usr/bin/inkscape --export-dpi=300 "$@"
