Bug#826368: Same problems, solved by compiling 1.6.2 from sources

I had this problem with Viking too - it crashed pretty often - and 
mostly during the zooming. I solved it by downloading sources for 
version 1.6.2 and compiling them by myself.

Is there any chance that this version will be packaged for Debian? The 
sources for 1.6.2 are available from December 2015 - so for almost 9 
months. And if this new version could solve the problems which are 
making the software (for some of us) almost unusable... Or are there 
some other problems?
