It's just that the package has the build-dependencies incorrectly specified (which itself is an RC issue). What amide actually needs (instead of libgnomeui-dev, which happens to pull these in for you) is libgconf2-dev and libgnomevfs2-dev. Given both GConf and GnomeVFS are deprecated and destined for removal for Buster. It's an 'all or nothing' kind of situation and there's already an open bug report mentioning the lot, so I'm going to merge this bug report into "#885045 amide: Depends on old GNOME libraries". Based on the activity in the upstream repo it doesn't look like you can rely on upstream solving this for you unfortunately....
