thanks
Apparently upstream managed to run PDFsam with OpenJFX 11. I'm currently
investigating why it doesn't work for us.

Dear all,
The issue is still prevalent even though you do get a
'banner'/animation or whatever its called similar to when gimp starts
even though there are now versions of openjfx and openjdk . Something
seems to be still missing.

PDFsam is developed using Java 8 and JavaFX. It should work on higher
versions provided they come with their JavaFX, as far as I know Oracle JDK
still bundles JavaFX, with a plan to separate the two soon. OpenJDK already
separated JavaFX available through the package OpenJFX but from what I can
see
Package: pdfsam
Version: 3.3.5-1

Dear Maintainer,
I can reproduce the issue using Debian testing.
If I have openjdk-8-jre installed it works.
If I have openjdk-8-jre and openjdk-9-jre installed it doesn't work.
If I have openjdk-8-jre and openjdk-10-jre install

Hello,
I can confirm the bug report, the package is still unusable.
I have tested upgrading these libraries to unstable/sid, but the problem still
persists:
ii libopenjfx-java8u151-b12-1
ii libopenjfx-jni
