fixed 887100 1:1.5.1-2
thanks
No reply for more than half a year, I assume that the upload fixed the
problem.

I have uploaded geeqie 1:1.5.1-2 to unstable where I have cherry-picked
a patch that was applied upstream recently - Could you please try that
version out and reply back confirming that it fixes the problem (or
not)?
The patch:
Sorry I failed to answer your questions: not file location dependant
(/tmp/geeqie for exemple), metadata file in .local/ is properly updated
with a tiff:Orientation tag.
And the latest tests are with everything under pref/metadata unchecked
except "write altered image orientation to metadata".
I had a look at the code, and ended line 477 of image.c as the test that
decides to render or not.
Indeed, unchecking preferences/metadata/"write altered image orientation to
metadata" causes the rotation to be properly displayed (and then forgotten
when you close the program)
Line 477 of
Where is the file you are trying to edit located in your hard drive
folder hierarchy?
In the preferences dialog:
What are your settings under the "Metadata" tab?
Do you have write access to ~/.local/share/geeqie/metadata/ ?
Package: geeqie
Version: 1:1.4-3
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
In Geeqie 1.4, Edit/Orientation/Rotate (but also flip, mirror) have no effect.
Downgrading geeqie and geeqie-common to the version from stable (1:1.3-1+b1 and
1:1.3-1, respectively) sorts the problem.
Tested with both PNGs
