Hi,
I get exactly the same issue with MATLAB R2017a under testing.
As mentioned earlier, the issue is with libpangoft2-1.0-0_1.42.1-1 and
downgrading it to libpangoft2-1.0-0_1.40.5-1 fixes the issue.
Way to reproduce: inside MATLAB, write a keyword and press F1 to toggle
the help window. Shortly after the window appears (and before the
contents of the help appears) MATLAB crashes with the following message.
