I have stopped cairo-dock (as in killall cairo-dock) and edited the switcher configuration file, to change the desktop names from "Main", "Desk1" etc to names of my liking $ grep 'desktop names' ~/.config/cairo-dock/**/switcher.conf desktop names=SeaGreen;DustBlue;MilkyWine;DesertSand $ but, after a nuber of restarts, edit to the plugin's conf via cairo-dock configuration system, logouts, reboots I still have "Main", "Desk1" etc shown when I hover over the switcher's icon and my fancy names in the configuration file...
