Package: kinit
Version: 5.47.0-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

With the latest version of the KDE desktop available for Debian Buster
it appears to be impossible to launch multiple instances of
applications from the panel. For example, if I explore klauncher ->
applications -> internet I find two web browsers (Firefox ESR and
konqueror) and if explore klauncher -> applications -> system I find
konsole. If I right click on any of those applications two of the
options are "Pin to task manager" and "Add to panel (Widget)". The
first of those works, but only allows you to launch a single instance
of the application at a given time from the task manager which is not
useful to me since I need to launch multiple instances (especially for
konsole but sometimes for the browsers as well as other KDE
applications).

According to web sources "Add to panel (Widget)" should give me what I
want which is a separate panel launcher for each application that I
use a lot such as Firefox ESR, konqueror, and konsole, but this
functionality does not work (i.e., no launchers appear on the panel
for any of these applications). I routinely configured such
individual launchers on the panel (by a method which I cannot remember
exactly, but I think it was drag and drop from klauncher to panel)
when I was running a KDE desktop for Debian Buster a couple months ago
so I am pretty sure one of the KDE desktop upgrades in the last month
or so clobbered this long-standing and important individual
application launcher capability for the panel.

N.B. It is possible klauncher is fine, and instead the updated panel
is screwing up this capability. However, I have chosen to report this
bug for kinit because I know klauncher belongs to that package while I
have been unable to discover what application runs the panel so I
cannot figure out which package the panel belongs to. But I encourage you
to shift this bug report to the package containing the panel if that
is where the fault lies.
