Your report sounds serious but is IMHO not distro specific.
The bug is quit old. Please try to reproduce that problem with the
current upstream release.
If you can reproduce it please open an Issue at upstream and link it
here.

If I restore a file within a symbolic-linked directory, the symbolic link is
removed by the restoration.
For example, if we make a test file like this:
mkdir abc
ln -s abc def
touch abc/file1
and then restore it
