guvcview (and also cheese) cannot find a video device.

# ls /dev |grep vid    gets no hits.

$ uvcdynctrl -l

No devices found.

I had similar problems some years ago, but I forget the details. I
assume this is not specific to guvcview since cheese has similar
problems. vlc does not seem to find the (built-in) webcam.
I tried modprobe'ing some likely video drivers including uvcvideo without 
success.
