I was also affected, broken update to 3.0.8-6+deb10u1. The patch mentioned fixed
the issue.

The problem is also present in 3.0.8-6+deb10u1.
So when upgrading from 3.0.8-6 to that (through proposed-updates) the
cyrus-common package
postinst fails and the package is left in a "failed" state.

We're also affected by this bug. It is still present in 3.0.11-1. The upgrade
of this package breaks with every new version, rendering it unusable. Since
this package is (going to be) part of several transitions, more broken
We're now using the following patch internally since we can no longer
wait for an "official" fix:
