gddccontrol seems to require the GUI be run as root and as a result it
currently doesn't work under Wayland. GNOME are working on allowing X11
apps to run as root under Wayland but once gddccontrol becomes a
Wayland app it won't be able to run as root. So I think that the right
way to fix this is to make the app run as the user but make calls to a
dbus or other API running as root.
