Hi all, > Name: debian-mlhwaccl
Just to add a bit of personal experience, I very much regret that the Lintian list was called "debian-lint-maint", a name that renders the most simple search for the string "lintian" to return zero results. As a result of this, I was not even aware of the list's existence until many years after I was a regular contributor. The "boot" mailing list — which is mostly concerned with the development of the Debian Installer — is similarly affected by discoverability-related UX issues. Your "mhlhwaccl" suggested name unfortunately suffers from this precise problem, and arguably more so. It risks excluding potential contributors either by them not being able to locate the list in the first place, or by them being deterred by an obscure acronym. I do not have any concrete alternatives (and I would very much prefer not to engage in an "okay, is X better?"-style exchange) but I would humbly suggest you brainstorm an alternative name. However, I will add that a suffix that does not attempt both to reference both "machine learning" and "hardware acceleration" may actually be preferable in a net sense, even at the expense of the term that you leave out. (Needless to say, renaming the list later will come with numerous cognitive and technical overheads.) Regards, -- ,''`. : :' : Chris Lamb `. `'` la...@debian.org / chris-lamb.co.uk `-
