Package: iperf3 Version: 3.9-1 Severity: wishlist
Hi, When running iperf3 and attempting to connect to a non-running iperf3 server (i.e., a closed TCP port), this error message is returned: ~$ iperf3 -c somehost iperf3: error - unable to send control message: Bad file descriptor iperf3's current message isn't a very clear description of the problem. Earlier versions of iperf3 (such as 3.6-2, in Stable) print out the much clearer: ~$ iperf3 -c somehost iperf3: error - unable to connect to server: Connection refused I suggest that the earlier message be reinstated. -- System Information: Debian Release: bullseye/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 5.8.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU threads) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_PROPRIETARY_MODULE, TAINT_OOT_MODULE, TAINT_UNSIGNED_MODULE Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages iperf3 depends on: ii libc6 2.31-4 ii libiperf0 3.9-1 iperf3 recommends no packages. iperf3 suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
