On my system, the repeated cycling between day and night only seems to happen
with the "randr" adjustment method.
If I manually set the method to "vidmode" either on the command line
(-m vidmode) or in the config file (adjustment-method = vidmode), the
color adjusts and stays constant as

Redshift flickers randomly between night mode and daylight mode after it has
activated the night mode.
When it is in night mode, it randomly changes the color-temp briefly back to
daylight
