Package: python-matplotlib
Version: 1.5.3-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

The problem occured after updating the packages of Debian testing including the
python matplotlib packages.
Trying to typset LaTeX symbols in text or labels prints wrong characters without
reporting any errors.
E.g. `plt.text(.5, .5, r'$\lambda$')` prints a character that is not the greek
letter lambda.

On my work computer (OpenSuse, matplotlib version 1.5.1) this bug does not occur.
