Ok, newest information.
The denemo authors replied, and they know about the problem. I am
going to fix it by disabling the redo feature. We will have to
wait for the next upstream release in order to get this fixed
permanently.

there were three precompiled binaries in the source tree.
I add a check to remove them. However I do not write a complete clean
target since the upstream's clean target is too buggy for now.

I just looked through upstream's bug tracker[1] to see if they had any
updates on this issue, but I can't even find any mention of this issue,
I sometimes doubt people remember to fix bugs unless they are filed in a
bug tracker, so I've done so.[2]
Has anyone tried backporting the memory fixes
