dead as a parrot upstream (one unanswered user question in 2007, no ML

OK, so the bug IS solved, and it's solved in testing-proposed-updates
by the person who introduced
the unstable version always worked fine (so there was no need for such
test), and the issue was only present in a version in testing, now
rectified (thanks to Kumar that follow it up).
