I'm still investigating the ranlib problem, however, Ron Lee gave me
some help with this one and it turns out this is wrong:
i586-mingw32msvc-gcc -Os -Wl,--file-alignment,512 -Werror -L. -lpluginapi
sm_cleanboot.c -shared -o sm_cleanboot.dll
