the version in Squeeze still has this bug. I have been avoiding the
package upgrade for a month now because of this.
Is the package going to be introduced in Squeeze or should I just upgrade?

This was a little tricky. I successfully built and installed
libsigsegv2_2.8 binary+dev
Then the git build-package was successful, nonetheless it is uninstallable:

The problem was actually caused by a not responding libvirtd, which I
discovered too late. Still I think that virt-manager should give some
feedback after a reasonable time, e.g. 30s, if the connection to libvirtd
fails.
