Package: webcamoid-plugins
Version: 9.0.0-6
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
X-Debbugs-Cc: fieldho...@gmx.net

Dear Maintainer,

This bug occurs on a relatively fresh MX-Linux 23 i386 system.

The distro's preferred Webcam application (webcamoid) silently fails in the
GUI. Launching
from the command line shows that it crashed with a single line error, good old
'Segmentation fault'. Whatever outcome should be expected, this was not it.

An alternative application (eg, guvcview) works. So does webcamoid if its
plugin directory
/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/avkys/ is inaccessible. By elimination, I identified
/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/avkys/libMultiSink_ffmpeg.so as the single item in the
directory
that caused the crash.

More generally this package lacks clarity on what functionality each plugin
provides. I
couldn't easily determine what was lost by removing the problem plugin file.

thx
/df
