I think it is unfair to hold back kaffeine because of gstreamer bugs. If you
have a problem with gstreamer then don't upload the kaffeine-gstreamer
package.
Kaffeine is a solid application in my experience. And things are pretty quiet
bug-reporting-wise on the kaffeine user mailinglist

I just upgraded to the latest unstable version and the problem seems to have
gone away now.
