You're correct. It appears I didn't switch sources from Sid to Jessie in
time for the unfreezing of the archive.
In case someone else looks for how to fix a situation like this: Using
"apt-show-versions | grep newer" you can find out which packages are newer
than what your current sources say. Aft

If you want your old kvm startup command to continue to work, please
simply copy your old /etc/qemu-ifup to /etc/kvm/kvm-ifup.

It does purge here, with both dpkg and aptitude.
What shell are you using when seeing this? (The bug report indicates
bash). Testing with dash, I notice that dash silently leaves the symlink
in place [2]. Bash handles it ok. [3] and the postrm script itself is
posixly correct
Sorry, I didn't notice the [X] that indicates the package isn't in
testing [1] (it would be handy if this was visible in the BTS as well,
which it doesn't seem to be). I'll read [2] for RC bugs instead.
Let's keep this issue open until kvm-11 is out though, so users know what to
expect.
