reassign dash thanks It does purge here, with both dpkg and aptitude. What shell are you using when seeing this? (The bug report indicates bash). Testing with dash, I notice that dash silently leaves the symlink in place [2]. Bash handles it ok. [3] and the postrm script itself is posixly correct
