I have installed jde, but I am not able to make jde works. When I open
a Java file emacs entres in the standard Java mode, not JDE mode.

this is clearly a hotplug / udev (permission settings) problem. Until
now, I've used an hybrid system that run in udev some hotplug rules.
But it was based upon udev' hotplug backward compat which seems no
more available now.
A temporary solution is to edit /etc/udev/nut-usbups.rules and

I have been using emacs/auctex satisfactory for quite a long time.
Now I have activated the fly spell checker. It seems that when there
is an italized word whose spelling is not correct then emacs blocks.
