A major upstream version is scheduled for early december.
Amongst other things, this version will switch to Python 3, Gtk 3 as well as
GStreamer 1.0.
I plan to package it shortly after it releases.

This is easily reproduced by inserting a “half-byte” in “insertion” or
“Replacement” mode, then hitting backspace.
