settings completely vanished when i decided to reuse it. (decided to clear out
all the made up object files
and have XX megs space free). I was stunned to see "zero"

mount -t auto /dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1
cp /path/foobar.zip .
ls (while under /mnt/sda1) shows the newly copied /mnt/sda1/foobar.zip
cd /
umount /mnt/sda1
i remount the stick on another system and not
